Why your child should do Martial Arts

Martial arts training is more than just a helpful way to get kids away from electronic devices.  Here our our top “4 D’s” to help you understand the benefits of martial arts for children:

Discipline

Martial Arts commands respect, focus and honour. In many martial arts, students of all ages must show respect to their instructors as well as other classmates. A simple gesture such as bowing, serves a reminder to everyone that martial arts demands focus, respect and self-restraint. Our academy has an ethos of honour and prompt obedience to instructions which permeates the atmosphere and students catch it quickly. Many parents have noticed an increase level of compliance at home once their child begins practising martial arts.

Determination

The majority of martial arts academies use a coloured belt system of ranking. Each belt represents a certain level of proficiency and often requires some test/examination to obtain. Seeing other students wearing higher-ranking belts often compels students to strive for the next level belt. Not only does the belt ranking fuel determination, but the physical demands of martial arts also develop the child’s ability to push themselves to the limit.

Defence

The benefits of martial arts for children is that it redirects their natural impulses toward aggression and channels them in a constructive and monitored environment. All the martial arts discipline primarily focuses on self-defence rather than self-promotion.

Dedication

At Chiron Martial Arts, students receive a structured, well-rounded education in physical fitness, mental alertness, humility and respectful social interaction. They will also gain confidence to avoid trouble and with the ability to deal with it if the need arises.  Whether it is passing a hands-on test while the student’s instructor grades them or demonstrating proficiency to graduate to the next belt colour, they learn to stick it out even when it’s hard.
